Is Artificial Intelligence Having an Impact on Regtech?
Compliance executives, financial crime analysts, and other regtech innovators joined Merlon Intelligence for a lively discussion as we sought to answer the question “Is Artificial Intelligence having an impact on regtech?”. And, if so, where does it hold the most promise?
The problems that banks, fintechs, and exchanges are facing are well known — an ever-increasing number of global regulations, a glut of data to be analyzed, customers that expect excellent service faster, and the ongoing costs and risks posed by legacy systems.
Held in the heart of New York City at Work-Bench, our evening kicked off with thoughts from Bradford Cross, a serial entrepreneur, AI expert, and founder of Merlon Intelligence. Bradford shared candid observations about the state of the Regtech market and the application of advanced technologies to address foundational issues. Having contributed to major distributed systems projects at Google, Bradford shared his unique perspective on scaling technology companies to meet critical business needs.
We continued our evening with an expert panel of financial regulators, technologists, and business leaders to look at where we can expect the quickly evolving technology landscape to carry us in 2019.
The panel was moderated by American Banker’s editor-at-large, Penny Crosman, and included:
-Bradford Cross, CEO of Merlon Intelligence
-Arindam Choudhury, Global Head of Banking and Capital Markets at Capgemini
-Jeff Bandman, Founder and Principal of Bandman Advisors, and Former Director and architect of the CFTC’s lab for fintech innovation (LabCFTC) where he led fintech and regtech coordination with domestic and international regulators
