David Hardt, Brian Anthony, Jose Pacheco: Machine Learning and Analytics in the Practice of MechE
Title: Machine Learning and Analytics in the Practice of Mechanical Engineering: An amazing time to be in MechE in Design and Manufacturing
Abstract:
The exponential growth of available computation and available data is enabling amazing growth in the use of machine learning in design and manufacturing. In this talk we will highlight recent examples, deployed to industry practice, in the use of machine learning for real-time process control, quality control, video-based machine guidance, and in volume/3D measurement systems.
We seek your project ideas, collaboration, and support:
We are seeking industry collaborators to further inform and benefit from our efforts in the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year! The MechE department’s MEng. in Manufacturing and Design cohort, in groups of three students, will undertake applied machine learning Design and Manufacturing Projects, including the use of simulation, modelling, and data analytics and machine learning. These projects will combine the department’s deep experience and expertise in Design and Manufacturing and the Application of Machine Learning in the collaborative execution of 1-year, MEng. Thesis Projects at participating companies.
